What is Gunkan Sushi?
Gunkan sushi (also called Gunkan maki) translates into “Battleship roll”, as a nod to its distinctive appearance. You’ll spot delicious Gunkan rolls by their boat-shaped mounds of topped sushi rice, wrapped in a delicate strip of lightly toasted nori.
The nori elevates above the rice to hold delicious fillings such as fish roe (ikura, tobiko), seaweed salad, or chopped seafood mixes.
